since it was apparently enough of an issue at the old place for people to dedicate their lives toward, i would like to preemptively point out that just because a user has a lot of fake internet points does not mean their opinion is any more valuable than anyone else's or has any value whatsoever. anyone who thinks that farming phuks (or votes) is a meaningful enterprise is an idiot. /drunkrant
Have a look at the mod logs.
It may open your eyes some.
It has not changed. Some of the mods are petty, hatefull, and immature.
I'm not going to get into it, because i really don't care, and most of the users are decent folk who just want to get along.
But i am disappointed in the other mods, who are generally also decent, but they know what is going on and do nothing about it. That makes them partially responsible since they are enabling it and adding validity to otherwise shady looking mods.
the modlogs weren't as eye opening as i expected. the ban list is pretty extensive and doesn't give much in the way of reason so i guess you are referring to why you got banned which isn't recorded but there's only a couple excessive removals. i'm guessing silversurfers carried disagreements elsewhere into cheers because i don't know what else it could be.
There are valid reasons for /v/cheers hate. I find it offensive that a sub misrepresents itself like that. It claims to be friendly and welcoming, but can be very hostile to new users, and will hand out bans to users that have never visited because they dared to have a different opinion.
I also had a nut-job mod stalk me for over a year trying hard to spread lies about me.
So, I'm sorry, but fuck cheers.
I know most users there are genuinely decent people just looking to have fun. But when you tolerate that kind of bullshit from the mods, you don't get to cry foul when the sub is called out.
Clean the house if you want people to stop saying it smells like shit.
Sbbh is honest about what it is, so i don't think the hate it gets is valid. But cheers is the most dishonest sub on Voat.
