@PhunkyPlatypus you might be interested, but may have already been there
I'd love to see the elevators and the engine room, possibly the steam catapult propulsion too. The immense power those systems are almost mind boggling.
Of course all of the aircraft would be spectacular. Particularly if they have B-25 Mitchell's.
I look forward to your updates I've never been closer than a mile to an aircraft carrier.
I'll see if I can get a picture of the elevators that doesn't just look like another piece of deck space...outside pictures of it might be best if I can get some. They don't have them active for people to play around with for some reason :P
For sure, some bastards ruin launching from the deck in an office chair for everyone.
I'd be stoked if I could ever make a trip that far south to check it out.
I'm holding over the summer to make it to the USS Blowback and upload some pics of that.
If I ever get these image hosting problems resolved.
They have a good load of historic fighters, bombers and choppers aboard, and let you walk through them. They give you a ton of access to the entire carrier. I didn't take pictures last time I was there because it was with my older parents.
Any specifics you want let me know. Otherwise I'll just document it. That ship is so huge that you can't appreciate it without seeing it.
Edit: apparently they have modern flight simulators onboard, so going to spend most of my time there.
