Today was a much better day, but still not amazing. Have a vet appointment in the morning.

I discovered through a lot of trial and error that he is refusing to eat every single type of food he has eaten the entire year. It's 5 different varieties across 2 brands. He may take a few bites, but will not eat beyond that. He got by the last few days on an unopened box of a variety he never tried, but he refuses that now also.

In desperation, I reached into the back of the closet and got some food he used to like from about 2 years ago (not expired), but I stopped giving it to him because it's larger shredded chunks of salmon and he was unable to eat it - he'd just lick the broth. I gave him half a small can (1.5oz) at 4am and he ate it in 90 minutes, which is surprisingly fast for him. Another half can at 9am, then 1pm, quarter can at 5pm since I was leaving, then half can at 9pm. He ate 90%+ of each feeding...which comes out to 150 calories. That's double the calories he had yesterday, but less than 75% of what he should be having.

Anyways, he ate much better and has had more energy today. He played with a couple toys and meowed at people for the first time in over a week. He looks like he's feeling better too.

The confusing part is why he suddenly just a few days ago decided to completely refuse ALL food he had been eating for the entire year and starve himself. One of the varieties he had been eating for many years. I would instinctively blame a cat food formula change, but it's multiple brands and it's food I stocked up on months ago...so batches he had been eating from.

I hope the vet visit ends in something silly like kitty has anxiety, and not something more dire.

I lost my cat squeakers to cancer this year, so my heart really goes out to you and what you're dealing with when trying to do everything you can to help, but unsure of how to go about it.

Give your kitty some extra lovings and maybe try some fatty soup broths to help increase their calorie intake.

Thanks <3 Sorry to hear about squeakers, cancer would be the worst :(

Right now he has some sort of liver issues, but we've been re-doing bloodwork every 6 weeks or so and his enzyme levels are going down a good amount, but they are still pretty dang elevated. Just kind of at the wait and see for that. Other than that, he decided to completely stop eating all food he has eaten for the last year and luckily I found he would eat some older food I had (not expired) instead...no idea why he decided to starve himself to the point of lethargy.

Thank you. I found a lump on her mammary on late Dec, got her checked in early Feb and was quoted over $3k for the surgery to remove the tumor with no certainty of its success or impact to her quality of life. It was the toughest decision I've ever made it my life. But by late June it, despite our best attempts at medical care after she licked the tumor raw and open. We had to put her down. Despite how hurtful it still is. I think I made the right decision in balance of her life and the pain she was going through. We made her last month as best as we could and pampered that cat with salmon and clams and shit.

Had people come and do the procedure. And than another company come to take her for cremation an hour of grieving later.

Sorry that was probably a whole lot you didn't want to dwell on. I'm just drunk and spilling shit.

Might just fuck off for another year lols.

That's an awful situation to not know if surgery will help, especially with how much stress surgery puts on their bodies and life. I know I would be a basket case in that situation. /hug

Silly kitty....make sure he gets some extra belly rubs

His belly is so tiny now :( I need to fatten him up, but not sure how if this is the only food he'll eat.
