While they have a stigma associated with them (poor white trash), many mobile home/trailers are cheaper to rent than apartments. Hell, find some roommates and rent a house that has more square feet than an apartment for about the same overall price. People are too obsessed with living the sitcom lifestyle and won't accept reality.

The "American Dream" is based on hard work and lifting yourself into a better situation. Even Hispanics understand this concept and willingly live with multiple people in small apartments in order to save money. And guess what, if minimum wage goes to $15 for US workers then the Hispanic population is going to explode because more smaller companies are going stop hiring American workers and instead rely on under the table cash wages to workers who are willing to work for less.
