hey this is interesting because a simple brushing didn't get rid of most of the artifacts. "stainless" steel should not allow this sort of buildup, even while cooking, but it did. I'm considering throwing it out for being shit.
Get some Barkeeper's Friend and a green sponge, we use Barkeeper's Friend all the time.
Oh I have super hard water and my softener is running like a champ. A lot of that looks like salt residue.
You're lucky it was just water, everything else might have caught fire.
