As far as I know, the blame for this is largely on WinRed for changing the default option to recurring donations in March 2020. WinRed is like ActBlue for the RNC and is shady af.

The only political campaign I've ever donated to was for a friend who I've known since we were 10. Donating to millionaires and billionaires is pretty retarded.
