We are also raising a generation of people who will develop next to no natural immune system. Being exposed to germs and bacteria is an extremely healthy part of daily life and it is how you become a stronger person. Playing in the dirt is one of the healthiest things you can do, but these kids are going to be paranoid of touching anything that isn't sterile. It quite literally will be catastrophic and the most minor viruses and bacteria will obliterate them if this keeps up.

..in my not-at-all-professional opinion..

Oh, don't worry, some corporation will sell canned filth so we can get the same benefits while we feel clean.

Now seriously, phagotherapy is kinda this.

I'm reminded of Asimov's Elijah Baley books, in which all of Earth's early space colonies are disease-free, highly automated, and idyllic, but they can't stand being around filthy Earthers and everyone becomes so neurotic about avoiding risk that the cultures are stagnate and doomed to failure sooner or later.

In the most most extreme case, the inhabitants of a particular colony could barely stomach the idea of another human being in the same building.
