We could compromise and have a Gin and Whiskey

Actually, I have tried a Gin that was aged in a whiskey barrel and it was pretty good. It was from a local Michigan distillery that I can't seem to find any more.

Can't go wrong with aging anything in whiskey barrels. Dark beers aged in whiskey barrels are perfection.
