As much as I dislike reddit and would like to call their owners and moderators the bad names they deserve, I'm thinking that this is really a forced act by their payment processors who have been ramping up their deplatforming efforts significantly over the last few months. Reddit gets a LOT of traffic from subs like TD and it is not in their interest to ban them, but Visa, Mastercard, JP Morgan and others are on a full on assault to remove any website they dislike from the modern financial system. Some reddit exec probably got a threatening email or phone call and that likely led to this.
