It is supposedly a common Slavic belief that infants (suitably bundled) should be left outdoors in freezing temperatures to toughen them up

The Russian poster loosely translates as:

“Gradually expose your breast-feeding baby to freezing air. This will harden and protect them from illness later in life.”
