Trailer parks and tornadoes ... whew!

I was surprised to learn about 15 years ago that a person could not start a trailer park in the county where I was living at the time. You can own some land and put a trailer on it, and existing trailer parks were grandfathered in, but you could not, legally, build a trailer park. Nope. I don't think that was about tornadoes, but about the gradual gentrification of the county.

Back when hurricane Katrina hit we got lots of people from Louisiana that moved here and were given FEMA assistance.

On 10th street past council many new trailer parks started, so I am pretty sure that it is a city ordinance that prevents you and not a federal or state law.

It was a county ordinance. I don't live there anymore. It was Lexington County, SC. And, btw, I was NOT planning on being a trailer park slumlord, I was just surprised to learn about the law, mostly because there were trailer parks all over the place. I had actually lived in a few.

What do a tornado and an Alabama divorce have in common? Someone is gonna lose a trailer home...

I'll go sit in a corner now for making that joke on a tornado damages post.
