This is such an odd discussion. It's like they're agreeing with each other but also arguing. They seem to not grasp the concept that there is a difference between general statements and targeted harassment towards users on the site.

It is something I've begun to understand more and more since Phuks started and we put the TOS together. You need to have certain policies that are a catch all for things that may happen in the future to give yourself the option to ban or remove content/users if it comes to that. It does not mean you are necessarily going to enforce those policies in every case, or categorise every potential violation of a policy as something that someone should be banned for. It does not even mean you agree with your own policies on an ideological level, there may be circumstances outside of that viewpoint that warrant the creation of such policies regardless of your own opinion.

Here's where Twitter does wrong, and harms public discourse: they shadowban, and ban people because of ideology, and they manipulate trending topics, again because of ideology. These types of actions are morally bankrupt and inexcusable. Direct, harassing contact between users is on a completely different plane.
