I think Tyrion is the one character Martin can't bring himself to kill off but Tyrion doesn't take the throne. I haven't watched in years and never finished the second book so I could be way off. Jon and Dany defeat the White Walker army but it is Arya who takes the throne.
i expect the end to be along these lines: dany has baby. aegon kills dany. aegon dies killing nightking. baby gets raised by tyrion & sansa to be new king.
