Scientifically, the reason it happens is something like short term memory being confused with long term memory. Something like that.

What bugs me is that it totally fucks with my perception of reality. My brain keeps telling me "this exact thing has happened before", but I know that's not the case.

I just saw a something on twitter that feels like I saw it before I even had an account there. Then the same thing happened for me realizing it's just Dejavu, and getting annoyed by it. Then looking at the tweet above it, and getting even more annoyed that I remembered that as well. I even remember switching tabs over to Phuks so I can complain about it, but luckily that's where it stopped.

But it never fucking happened, and it drives me so fucking insane. Whoever designed the OS for the human brain needs to patch this right now or I am going to lose it.

I've done it. It made the other person mad and they wouldn't talk to me any more but we were kids and on a church bus sooo.....

Just to clarify: I was telling my friend what this kid on the bus was going to do about 5 seconds before he did it. I did this for about.... 15, maybe 20 seconds. Deja vu the whole time It was really weird.

lol yeah, if any of my friends were able to predict the future I would get jealous too. What exactly were you able to predict?

It was just a random deja vu moment that kept going and going and it was just rambunctious things that the kid was doing. Putting a bible on the overhead rack, giving candy to another kid, walking off to the front of the bus. I always figured the kid thought I was evil or something because it was a really fundamentalist church - things like that were evil.

I always thought that it happened to other people once in a while too... that it was a thing where the brain got a weird "out of sync" state and was just extrapolating what they knew about the world and felt like something "special" because deja vu just straight-up feels weird anyway.

It wasn't until, what, maybe 7... or 10 years ago that I started mentioning it to people and got the weirdest looks. Apparently, no, it's not a normal thing.

Never happened to me since though so I have no idea.
