So lately the complex I've been living in has been pushing out this new program : Amazon Hub.

It is basically a wall of armored boxes where you come and pick up your packages. Neat. Thanks for keeping my online purchases safe and secure, and also in a way that I don't have to wait for your lazy ass to open the doors and let me access my stuffs. Except these boxes are accessed via email and, as I am led to believe, facial/voice recognition.

I don't know, I have never been a fan of big tech. People call me scared and delusional, but I've read some things that make me feel justified in my fear for the world of 1984. It just seems all too uncanny. Amazon is already contracted by some guvvies. I don't want to add myself to the system, willingly.

But the people I am surrounded by continuously talk down on me and say they don't care, it is convenient.

So this is how liberty dies? What are your thoughts, Phuks?

edit: damn I forgot the extra 'o' in "too"

If I have to go to any store that wants to connect my face to my payment form, I cover the camera. Period. There is absolutely no law requiring me to submit to that kind of crap.

Heck, I completely refuse to use VR.

Coming up here soon, I'm gonna take a day off and figure out how to get my debit card completely out of my life and go back to straight cash as much as possible. There is absolutely no reason why these companies should be able to collect data from me and not pay me for it. It's a metaphorical rape and I refuse. My data, my choice.

I just pulled out an old dumb phone I put away a few years ago. I'm seriously considering switching to it.

What the fuck?I've never seen anything like that down here. It's creepy.

Go to any walmart self-checkout. The screen you look at? They have cameras on top, just like laptops.

The Orwell State grows ever steady up north. Polsaker, wherever you are, enjoy the freedoms you have. Enjoy the interactions you have with people that are organic and not determined by social media.

You are saying it better than I could have. Deep down if you really think about it, this unwarranted and unexcused collection of data is wrong. Convenience be damned! WE have lived far too long and have gone through far too many regime changes to know anything else besides Big = Bad.

I am just so severely disgusted with the way people around me treat the world. People are so robotic and dull. They don't think outside of their own lives, they don't ever consider what this whole game is about. No. Instead, let us live the fast paced rat race delirium that is modern existence.

Because they would have to admit that they have no control. That's what a lot of teenagers go through with all their rebellion. They learn that there's this vast world out there and their tricks for controlling "their world" doesn't work. Then they get into the workforce only to find that they only have control over a cube. So they extend that to the rest of their lives and find that they're much happier.

I just wouldn't buy that shit.

I constantly get asked for my 'rewards card' in the supermarket and usually withdraw enough cash each week for groceries etc so they can't sell my debit/credit card data to Google. Soon kids will be implanted with chips at birth and hopefully I will be too old to give a fuck about anything much by then.

I recently stopped going to a gas station for my beer because the wouldn't stop bugging me about the rewards card. I finally quit going there when one of the supervisors leaned in close and in hushed tones gave me some long winded explanation about them getting rated on how many rewards cards they swipe. She even activated a card and put it in my bag, even though I said didn't want it.

There's a good chance from looking at the promo that the front facing camera will have their new facial recognition software installed, but given how their smart doorbell cameras will work, you just need to be within 50-100 feet of the thing for it to start tracking and tagging you. No way to avoid it even if you don't use it, unless you always wear disguises whenever you are near it

Your face is just like a password. Just make sure to change it every 90 days to avoid the repercussions of a breach.

When I mention things like not using Google, and avoiding being tracked by these companies, people always act like I am crazy and my "paranoia" is unwarranted. So don't feel bad, most people have drank the kool aid and think that stuff doesn't matter.
