I tried to suspend my disbelief and just allow myself to be entertained by the story, but come on.. Adrenochrome? Hunter S. Thompson has been dead for many years now.

There's a couple usage reports on erowid that seem to report it as being barely psychoactive, and one of them says it has extreme negative side effects. There's also some scientific studies that suggest a correlation with schizophrenia.

Even giving the most extreme benefit of the doubt: reviews and studies can be falsified, but I find it completely unlikely that all the chem-heads and psychonauts of the world have completely missed a drug that gives "a high beyond any other" with no side effects.

And finally, its easily produced in a lab. Its oxidized adrenaline. Anyone with badly expired epipen has access.
