So I bought some guppies for the kids a while ago and they had babies. Most of them were eaten by their vicious parents and our angry fish, steve. Well, steve eventually died because he hated being around other fish. At least, that's why I assumed he died, because he spent months in solitary confinement and grew comfortable living in alone in his plastic prison. A while after Steve died, and through several batches of cannibalised babies, the mother and all of the original family randomly died. Except for one lonely male and a super tiny baby that was strong enough and fast enough to escape death. This baby grew up to be a fairly hideous female, and they immediately started pumping out babies like no tomorrow. And they have survived. I mean a lot of them.

She's definitely ready to have more babies and I see no reason to stop them from pumping out retarded fish babies. I bet they will make really entertaining feeders for some carnivorous fish.

That's right, I'm raising retarded guppies. On purpose.

For the colony to thrive after coming so close to extinction makes for a beautiful story. Also, I'm having trouble imagining an ugly guppie.

Her tail is fairly small, and colorless and her body is a dull grey. Not very impressive compared to her mother.

Store bought fish are often pumped full of hormones to make their colors stand out. This will normally reduce the fish's lifespan.

Although, your fish survived in a hostile environment. Her dull coloring may have helped her to hide from her cannibalistic parents.

These fish were purchased from a independent pet store that breeds his own guppies.
