This will teach me to rely on third party sources for keeping muh pikkchers safe.

Two of my subs are now filled with dead links, and I'm afraid to try and repost anything because :

  1. Its boring to see reposted content, and I'm sure Phuks is still small enough that if I re-did all my fox pictures or my broccoli memes then you'd be peeved.

  2. What can I reliably trust to keep all my links active? I've heard rumors of a built-in image host but I can't access it. Otherwise I would.

Anyway, this is just a low effort bitchpost about my first world internet woes.

Hope you phukkers are having a good night.

If you want reliability, go corporate and let imgur or Facebook data mine your images. Sure they strip the identifiable data from the images first, such as camera location, but they'll harvest and sell that data later.

Otherwise, catbox.moe is the longest lasting alt image host I've seen.

And before someone says it, images are part of data mining beyond facial recognition and EXIF data. I don't work for big social but I just had 3 people leave my team of graphics programmers in the game industry to do just that for a company that isn't an image host. Let that sink in

I don't fully comprehend what is being said here...but I am terrified by the implications. Are you saying that pictures have data besides the normal EXIF/Meta that can be scraped?

This used to be a joke because of how unrealistic the idea used to be behind that level of image recognition. It turns out you can learn a lot from an image without the metadata. Location, people involved, month of the year, landmarks, roads, you name it. We have people working on training data mining software by creating scenarios in a game engine because the image recognition has become so advanced it really only needs basic patterns.
