There's a picture in there of a boat in Rochester, I actually recognized the background--that bridge in the back is for trains, a large one for cars has since been build just this side of it.
Honestly, I can't imagine it would have been particularly comfortable. There are, and always as been as far as I'm aware, a ton of barges moving up and down the rivers day and night. When those fuckers go past they generate one hell of a swell and the rivers are only so wide.
