Why are all the voat transplants suddenly taking an interest in horticulture and why do I feel compelled to join in?
Why are all the voat transplants suddenly taking an interest in horticulture and why do I feel compelled to join in?
I'm going to take a wild stab at this question.
One of the last subverses on voat that is active yet not political and not over run by alts was the grow it sub started by middle path. I'm pretty sure that was the last grasp of "normal" left on voat. It seems safe to assume that users would post on a similar sub here run by the same moderator at voat. Over time they will branch out to other subs but it's usually human nature to stick to what you know.
Better to have garden enthusiasts then other groups from voat IMO
Plus it's spring, things are in bloom and that's damn exciting.
And /u/Middle_Path's username was stolen by some asshat signing up here, so on Phuks, it's /u/Middle_Pillar. Moral of the story, beware of old Voat usernames, some may not be the same person here. Trust but verify.
Yup, she's /u/RealNeedleStack here, when she drop by.
The goats with the patience for horticulture are likely tired of all the "GAS DA JOOZ" and nonstop racewarnow-ing that drowns out actual conversation and OC.
My 2¢
Why are all the voat transplants suddenly taking an interest in horticulture
There were a lot of privacy-minded people driven off voat after Putt went full metal retard. I would speculate that prepping and self-sufficiency have a lot of overlap with with being mindful of privacy.
why do I feel compelled to join in?
Because growing food and useful plants is at the root (bad pun) of the all most successful civilizations on the planet. The early adopters of agriculture were able to abandon nomadic practices, form larger groups with stable borders, and reproduce much quicker with the added security and nutrition.
Unless you come from a native population of hunters such as those from the arctics tundras, or Africa, there's a strong argument to be made that an aptitude for growing plants is literally in your genes.
Nothing wrong with a love of plants. Seems to be some yearning for the simple life that all of Voat craves.
I just love gardening and sharing what little wisdom I have.
You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think.
