Intrepid goat VoatSearch (a/k/a SearchVoat) posts voat comment and content stats regularly.

I was curious if there was any significant content drop-off in the days since voat came back online and I can tell you voat is steadily declining at a consistent rate.

I wanted a good baseline so I looked at the stats of the five weeks' worth of posts before the blackout. Each week enjoyed an average of 1,700 posts a day (some up to and above 2,000 posts).

Week ending on...

March 18

March 25

April 1

April 8

April 15

Outtage week ending on April 22 (big surge of content after voat comes back but the start of the decline)

All was not well.

On April 27 PuttItOut commented like a right prick to /u/chmod here and here and subsequently lost the faith of many users who were already nervous about the state of voat. Many users said their goodbyes on voat and stopped posting.

Here we see undeniable evidence of the decline with the week ending April 29

/u/Owlchemy I saw a comment of yours here on Phuks where you wondered how many users have left. Judging by the content I'd say many. And I doubt they'll be returning.

This is true. I actually started drifting towards Phuks earlier, mostly because it was getting progressively more toxic there. It was the Voat 'days of darkness' that was the final straw for me, followed by zero explanation. I still have my account and swoop by on occasion to see how that whole thing is shaking out ... but this goat is now a fox - LOL

I lurk too and refrain from voating. I have a special enjoyment watching posts get born and die with hardly any up or down votes.

That decline is most substantial than I expected. Some of that might have to do with this being the weekend before finals in some of the US, but that's obviously only a small factor.

Even though its become clear that my time on voat is over, I can't help but feel like abandoning ship is somehow playing into the hands of whoever is behind all this shit. Its just too weird that the shills and admins are both apparently in favor of displacing the userbase.

Interesting research. Thanks for posting.

Pretty sure empress isn't going back as numerous messages she got wished her a still born or disfigured children and that she dies during labor or calling her a tranny over and over.

There is a line you don't cross with shit, and they did with no one to really stop it so......she is likely never going back. Can't say I blame her because she poured her all into that sub and it showed.

Good thing is she started something good and it can be done again.

I won't go back to do more than look at the dumpster fire. No point really I feel. Then chmod, and many others saying to hell with it.

All they have left is dietcokehead and maybe some 4chan esk posters so nothing of actual content and over time people (real people) will leave and leave them to their own devices.

Voat did what it was supposed to I assume. Kept the undesirable away from Reddit and made them some money. Make no mistake if they won't tell the actual amount of donation they made a profit. Plus one guy did most the work he says.

I had no idea that was happening to her. I checked her account and sure enough she hasn't posted or commented in 8 or 9 days. She was one of the big ones.

Voat was a real refuge for free thinkers at first. Like you said it later became a "troll" containment system.

I texted her a few days ago...I try to leave her be as much as I can now.

People can say some really horrible things. I never knew Empress while I was on Voat but sheesh, I congratulated her on her babies- I was wondering if Needlestack is here or what is going on with her. She always seemed to bring some really cogent postings and I always enjoyed her creative side. Hope she migrates this way as well.

I think it's too soon to draw any conclusions. A 6 month average may be a better way of looking at it.

I agree except for major things like what has happened to voat. While it is still to soon to tell I think we have a pretty good idea where it is headed.

I'm still trying to figure it out. Is it nefarious, dark forces behind it, is Putt the only one trying some (to his thinking) strange plan to accomplish ???, or is he suffering from a narcissistic "Nobody can do this but me" grandiose? I applaud what he and Atko started and accomplished, truly a beacon in the ugly, censored, liberal cesspool of a good portion of the internet and society. But it obviously has gotten out of hand and more than just one person can maintain. Now I feel like he's showing disdain and contempt not just to the corrosive users, but to the very users who freely give content, which is the crux and livelihood of the site. It's true that while you have place where you can say it, do you need to say it? I don't mean conflicting views on politics and society, I'm thinking more about the juvenilistic, sophomoric posts of some users who just post garbage to feel edgy and the schoolyard antics of groups throwing crap at each other to assert their alphaness. I would miss the good parts of actual discussion and views on current events but the pendulum has started to swing too far.

I'm still confused and decidedly have no answers. It will all work out one way or another. For now, I'll just watch.

Meh. I support Putts comment to chmod, though I like chmod in general.

Putt is doing this project for fun. He doesn't have to be everyone's bitch. Through he also isn't doing a good job, but that's independent of becoming everyone's bitch for trying to do a nice thing.

So he's doing a bad job. Move with your feet. Don't become a dick.

I don't really see anything anomalous there. It's all within a reasonable margin of error. It's too soon and not enough data, anyway.

I was a regular Voat user for just about two years and really enjoy the site. the fact the canary died (that bugs me) and Putt posted he would "get around to addressing the site" (paraphrased by me) when he had time from his busy life, well, I think in that amount of time he could have told Voat members what has/is going on. Still no word from Putt or Atko as of today, that I've seen. I noticed lots of very childish and clickbait posts; lots of new names with scads of ccp and scp (or wtf it is); brigading like feckin' crazy. I've lost faith in the site as of now, yet I hope to be able to return to it when it gets sorted out.
