That was my first reaction, but after talking to a couple users that had these problems, they shed some light on the situation.
Too much weird shit for it to be JUST a coincidence IMO. These comments by Putt just shows that he doesn't care about the site nor the users IMO, but most of all the actions or the lack of actions that have taken place.
And this comment doesn't help the pot either.

Amalek used to be pretty outspoken about his beliefs. There were a few debates about religion on Voat a long while ago and they were great debates. Recapped through a few of them but don't remember what side he took. People didn't really like him. Got downvoated into oblivion, everyday he was threatening to leave the site, just to come back. He ended up quitting his main account and making a bunch of alts and using them to talk on Voat.
Sane on the other hand was a very well liked member of the community, one of the most active members since I joined, outspoken as well. When the codebase rolled over I believe she started to bleed CCP and SCP for calling out SBBH in the past. She was a threat to them. So she ended up going off the deep end making 5 paragraph comments without any breaks. A wall of text if you may. Speaking of what was happening, but very few read them per the reason above. In the middle of all this she was downvoated so hard she had to make alts. Then she started formatting correctly but it was just short messages. Shortly after she was globally banned from the site. She still pops into Voat occasionally, using alts as usual. I've ran into her once since she was banned, other members have seen her a few times though.

I heard of users not being able to delete their accounts. Is that what a global ban is?
Also, not to pick a fight with you, but could it really be as simple as overreaction? Putt/Atko do have a huge problem on their hands plus they are living a life, there might be somethings keeping them from active communication besides gag orders?
But still it is really out of character and at the end of the day, it felt like Voat was going downhill anyways.
