In the immortal words of Bill Hicks:

"Bill's capsule review!"

I don't really want to spoil any details cause i know you can only access it in the US by donating a kidney or other obscure ways but feel free to reply and entice me for any details and most probably a vain throbbing rant!

i never liked how most aliens seemed to be pretty normal looking humanoids. they could still have gone further but i don't mind the klingon redesign as much as some people. that was the most positive thing i could think of about it.

I don't particularly hate the new klingon's that much, but it was completely unnecessary to change them like this in my eyes. Why not make the current "klingons" a whole new race, as that's basically where they are for 75% already.

In ToS and TNG onward they where always depicted as a kind of warrior / honor / vikings /swashbuckle race. TNG+ merely expanded extensively on their lore. I mean Fighting a klingon would be quite the experience but the same could be said about drinking with one. I can't say the same about the new ones.

These Klingon's have an almost egyptian or rather "jews before the exodus from egypt but with bling" feel to them. To much complaining, victimising/ bitching and far to less honour and bravoure for my taste.

The way T'kuvma speaks Klingon doesn't help much either. Makes him look like the retarded Neanderthal pressecor of General Martok

i'd put that on whoever the godawful writers are. i think whoever did the concept and design for the klingons did an acceptable job. im not sure if there is any other part of the show that i would say was acceptable.

*the weakest point of the concept to me was that some klingon has to sit down and carve all the bullshit designs that cover everything.

looked pretty, but didn't feel anything like star trek

I agree with you on the looks, the design and special effects where absolutely stunning. Like proper hollywood blockbuster, triple A quality.

No star trek soul into it at all, feels like a completely different universe.

I was not impressed.

I don't mind the remake of the Klingons. But like Boukert said, there was no need for it.
I also don't mind that most aliens are bipedal. It is not realistic, but it keeps expenses down and quicker production.

But I though the writing sucked.
The behavior of 'Michael Burnham' and 'Captain Philippa Georgiou' was too unrealistic. They both act so unprofessional and inept that they are unfit for their rank.

I am willing to make a lot of allowances for a series. But the characters have to either be believable (as people/personalitys) or they have to make me laugh.
I didn't buy it, and I didn't laugh, so I may not watch anymore.

I like Michelle Yeoh but her English was so fucking bad at certain points, that alone threw me off... I agree the writing was horrid and it continued in ep3. Just more unbelievable plot twists, superficial characters and unnatural interaction.

The Captain indeed missed depth and especially warmth (janeway style), felt like a very flat character. The lead indeed has 0 on the empathy score, and could just as much be Data without character protocols. The only "lighthearted" fun times was when she was laughing and flying the jetpack. Even though "Micheal" was laughing, there was no actual "fun" to be found anywhere near that scene or even the whole fucking two pilot episodes.

I mean even 3 episodes in and no smart jokes, fun references, Picard puns, Kirk Smirks , Sisko grins, Janeway Grit or even a goddamn Archer beagle joke in sight.... I foresee a bad omen

I guess i'll keep watching as I already have netflix and I do like Scifi. Would mentally block it as being Star Trek though. Sortoff like "the Battle for Endor" isn't Star wars ...... but it is.....

I have very low requirements for scifi in general, but I'm not going to watch it. If they decided to just make the exact same thing a new show with a new IP (without any sort of Star Trek), then maybe I could tolerate it.

I have very low requirements for <s>scifi</s> in general

You should try "the orville" SciFi with penis jokes!

[–] jobes 1 points (+1|-0)

I see posters for that show in California and that may still fall under the "will never watch" category

It really isn't that bad, I actually even enjoyed it. I mean Seth Macfarlane as a captain is horrid and certainly very annoying. SurpArisingly a large part of the production is being done by the old team who did TNG, Voy, DS9 and enterprise. Guess who directed the last episode and guess who is rumoured to have a role in coming episode! And you can see and feel this in the episodes, it breathes everything star trek used to be. It is basically the star trek everyone wanted instead of goddamn STD
