It's been so Smokey here due to wildfires, I've had to switch to light cigarettes

I get that too, but I don't live anywhere near the west coast. Central US, actually.

It's been crazy out here lately. It's looked like dusk at noon. Everything has sort of a yellowish tint to it. Some days you can even look at the sun due to the amount of smog.
