So they release a new update recently for mobile apps.

It promises a better experience and faster streaming and what not.

Cool, I'm all for that.

But what's this? It needs new permissions. Okay that's a bit odd.

Record audio, use precise location, read contacts, send and receive sms messages and read phone number.

I've been ignoring it for the last few days. Even though it suggests it every time I minimize the window.

Now lo and behold, I get to wait 30 seconds in punishment for not allowing their incredibly invasive update.

You know you can just disable all of that in the settings/apps location on android. You don't have to allow any of those permissions at all and it works just fine

I just uninstalled all the updates and it still offers to update to the newest version. But at least I don't have to deal with the punishment countdown anymore. Thanks for the tip.
