So I was biking around town to stretch my legs. I don't know why biking downtown at 3am sounded like a good idea but it was great. Most of the drunks had gone home since all the bars close an hour earlier and I had the streets practically to myself.

I stuck to the main streets for safety, one time heading into a neighborhood adjacent to downtown. After riding a block into it, I decided the area was too sketchy and turned around. As I came back onto the main street, I came across another biker and we got to talking about how great it was out and how perfect it was for a bike ride.

While stopped at a stoplight, a city bus pulled up next to us and let about a half dozen people out. We asked what they were up to at this time of night and they said they were just heading home a few blocks away from a party. We figured we would ride with them to make sure they got home safe and to give us a direction to ride for a little while.

They happened to live 2 blocks into the neighborhood I had just earlier turned out of. We took a shortcut through an alley (because that is always a good idea at 3am >_>) and our new party going friends were being quite loud and rambunctious but I figured that with so many people we were relatively safe.

At the end of the alley, there was a half open garage and the car inside had its lights on and 2 girls inside making a lot of fast movements. Against my better judgement, we decided to check out what they were up to.

Here we were, a group of 8 or so people, approaching two people in a car in total darkness. Smart. When we were just about 10 meters away, the driver sticks a gun out their window and starts firing wildly. Most of the bullets don't go anywhere near any of us but one of them grazes my arm.

I learned from Archer to always count gunshots and when I reached 12, the shots stopped. I figured that was all they had so I rushed up the passenger side and dove in through the window (over the passenger who was diving into the backseat) and grabbed the wrists of my would be killer. It was just a 20-something white girl whom we had scared the shit out of.

After quickly making sure everyone was alright, we all piled into the car to drive around for a while because the police have a system to pinpoint where gunshots are coming from and none of us had any interest in talking to them.

While driving, I asked the girls what they were up to when we so rudely interrupted and they said they had just gotten home from a concert and "ate everything" when they saw us skulking up behind them. I asked what everything was and they rambled off a list of meaningless girls names. I suggested Lucy and they nodded.

If you have never been a passenger with someone coming up, its fairly worrisome. I asked them if they wanted me to drive but they said they were alright still but it was probably time to head back. On the way back, I asked just how much they had eaten because they were getting more erratic. They were silent so I suggested that a vial is quite a bit to split between 2 people. They agreed.

As we pulled back into their garage, I asked if they would need any help on their trip and they said they would be fine so I thanked them for the bizarre night and we all went off our separate ways.

I've been shot in a few. I usually wake up when it happens.
