Seems like someone was able to hack the Emergency Alert System as it went out over multiple cable companies feeds. From the comments on the story,
I experienced it. The EAS alerts are typically the same time of day (I work from home). This came on, but immediately knew something was off as the text came up in spanish. Then the audio was not the typical alert system. It was very clear it turned weird with talks of god and end times. That went on for just a short time (maybe a minute or so). After that, it switched to CSPAN for me and the EAS scrolling text stayed at the bottom of the screen and didn't allow me to change the channel. I had to leave for an appointment, but for at least 15 minutes it stayed that way. Not sure how long it was up.
