My impression from the video is there isn't a road to the village, it's small. But I'm not sure.

There does appear to be a road (seen when he gets to babushka's house, also electricity/ refrigerator). Maybe some sort of border technicality.

It does seem strange there wouldn't be at least a dirt road, I think you are correct.
