I watched this a while ago and I found the way they described the drug's effects quite interesting. They describe it as though it is some kind of magical substance that makes people do whatever they are told, but I think the most fascinating part about it is actually the human side of it.

Rather than the drug having an effect on the actual decision making of the person it is given to, I think it acts as a catalyst for an underlying, pre-existing condition some people have. In the same way that some people are prone to things like hypnotism, I think the drug only serves as a medium for the effect, rather than serving the effect directly. Comparisons could also be drawn from certain psychological studies such as the Milgram experiment, in which people were told to do something by a figure of authority and continued to do it even though they were aware it was wrong.
