My interpretation of the ending would be that they thought they had shot a normal human and were going to bury the body. When they saw it was a zombified human they turned away in disgust and were going to let it rot exposed to the elements.
They were assuming it was some sort of backpack and the way he had fallen concealed the presence of the child.
Can't understand the kid, most kids if they hit the ground like that would be screaming their heads off.

Why did she have to hear the baby before looking close enough to see there was a baby?
They were going to just leave the baby to die.
I mean why walk 100 yard just to not investigate?

Smarter than every body on Walking Dead, who all deserve to die horrible painful deaths 10 times over for their stupidity.
Haven't seen Fear the Walking Dead, but one commenter on YT said the same thing about that show.
