I agree with your overview. The video does raise good questions and make some valid points.
I think he was far too confident in giving answers to some of those questions though.
That's a pretty brutal fight you got yourself into. What was the context and who "won"?
Which time? There's plenty to choose from. :)
I wasn't always an 'Innocent' bystander. Those days are decades behind me now, but I used to hang with a bad crowd.
Ok, maybe I was the bad influence.
Both the soccer-nut kick and eye gouge were prison fights. The first, I had been transferred to a new range and one of the guys there was fucking with me. He was bigger than me and figured I was easy prey to bolster his image/position. I knew I had to react immediately or accept a bitch role.
So I walked up, made a show of pulling back my fist, to punch him.
Then pow, kicked him in the boys. And I felt it land directly on a nut.
He didn't even hesitate. Grabbed me by the throat and did something like this
Fortunately the guards showed up around the third of fourth time I impacted the floor. We were both in a lot of pain for a while after that.
But he didn't fuck with me anymore, and nobody looked at me as a bitch.
Worth it? Maybe. Jurry is still out on that.
Those poor tables and chairs! UltraViolence!
I've never been much of a rough guy, until I'm about 4 shots of whiskey into the night. Then I just can't help but challenge anything that crosses my path.
Bug on the wall? Obliterated!
Hooligans being too loud on the balcony? I'm finding where you park your car!
Just fucking look at me wrong? I'll hold up the entire interstate while I attempt to piss in the drivers window!
That last one was for jokes, never done something that stupid. But goddammit I've had my urges and sometimes feel invincible. Never went to prison cus I'm a good guy and ate my broccoli, but had plenty of street fights with the knockers on the block. I've honestly only ever felt like I truly won one, and even then it was closer to a tie than anything because we just backed away from clobbering each other and he started yelling insults while heading back down the street. I stood there waiting to continue, and when he turned a corner I figured I had him beat.
I was never attracted to violence, but I didn't always avoid it. A couple of acquaintances greatly enjoyed violence, so sometimes I would get caught up int it.
I didn't often lose. Not because I'm tough, but because I am calm and in control of my emotions in intense situations. I could usually predict when I'm going to lose, and avoid fighting or flee. Pride is not one of my weaknesses.
I had a blackmarket income at the time, so it was sometimes a necessary evil, and having ultra-violent partners was an asset.
In prison, it's a different set of rules. And you either play by them, or get wrecked.
When in Rome..
I can see that. I just thought it was an interesting topic because I feel that in a way we have moved from a "natural" style to a more complicated structure. MMA is fucking deadly though, not disagreeing with you there. When two people keep their distance, a trained and well balanced fighter will almost always win against non-standard tactics such as twisting and biting.
I think more what this guy means, or at least more what I took it to mean, was that kids and the inexperienced try and copy things they see on television and end up failing miserably. A natural way to fight is within us all, its just our system of escape and will to survive through whatever means necessary be it nut twisting or neck biting. Also I think he's Swedish or something and therefore can't really communicated effectively what it is he is trying ti display.
