I am not going to link the trailer for this because it shows spoilers. Even the Rotten Tomatoes description of the plot gives away far too much.

Brief Synopsis

The UK and the US need to conduct a drone strike during what was supposed to be a recon mission in the middle east, but complications arise, prompting a moral argument between the military and the government over the ramifications of conducting the strike.

The Good

I really like the cast in this film. Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul and Alan Rickman. I think this was actually Alan Rickman's last film. Needless to say, the acting is great.

One thing this film got spot on is the pacing. It could have very easily felt rushed or drawn out, but they introduced certain factors into the film at the right time to keep the moral dilemma it centers around interesting, and it certainly made the film feel more tense when yet another problem entered the fray.

Directing was not mindblowing, but they didn't get it wrong. The logistics of what was happening was conveyed visually in a way that didn't make it too confusing.

The moral dilemma is actually interesting. A lot of films get this wrong, and if they don't get it right, then it ruins the whole film.

The Mediocre

The dialogue can get a little bit jargon-y at certain points. I think that's about it.

The Bad

There is one straight up ridiculous thing in this film and I just can't forgive it. They fly a little bird drone around to spy on terrorists, and it's just...

Whether or not they do have those bird things in the real military, they still look stupid as fuck, and there is no way on earth that people would look at that thing and think it's a real bird.

Alan Rickman is a dick to his daughter.

PMYA: 85%

Love the cast and it is an all around well made film. Probably worth watching.
