I hate tipping so I over-tip to avoid embarrassment, which itself is embarrassing because I look like I'm trying to be a big shot.

How about giving the customer 5 minutes to post a review? It's seen only by management and the employee, and both are allowed to ask for clarification.

The arbitrary 5 minutes is the time it takes me to stall, finish my covfefe while cyphering the tip amount.

Ha. I usually just tip 15 to 20 percent. Maybe more or less depending on situation but 95% percent of the time it's in that range.
