The warranty was only on hand tools. Their power tools are crap and AFAIK never had the lifetime warranty. The warranty will probably be one of the first things the new buyer scraps. I remember back in the nineties, Sears had its own line of work pants that had a one year warranty. My dad was a mechanic, and used to wear through the knees in six months. He didn't buy a pair of work pants for years. That was until they sold their brand to another company and stopped honoring the warranty. I remember being in the store with him when he tried to return his last pair. He never was that great to retail people...

The brand is not going to be worth nearly as much if Sears doesn't offer their full support on the product. I don't know if it's still like this, but you used to be able to bring any Craftsman tool into Sears and if it's damaged, broken, or whatever, they just replaced it no questions asked. That was the #1 reason to buy Craftsman.
