i think if anything the sale vastly improves the strength of the brand and the likelihood that the exchange program will continue if it hasnt been cancelled already, sears is godawful.

The brand is not going to be worth nearly as much if Sears doesn't offer their full support on the product. I don't know if it's still like this, but you used to be able to bring any Craftsman tool into Sears and if it's damaged, broken, or whatever, they just replaced it no questions asked. That was the #1 reason to buy Craftsman.
