How many of them and the other protestors over the summer actually committed more than misdemeanors? Does political posturing on both sides warrant the millions of dollars spent hunting people down and creating a permanent police state.

If we want to move forward there needs to be a moment where truce is declared, where the government, in best interest of peace and prosperity going forward, throws up their hands and pardons every non-violent criminal at these incidents to avoid jamming up the already backlogged court systems (this would not exempt civil suits).

America has to start somewhere.

i think blanket pardons are a terrible idea and encourages people to continue their behavior. even though most charged are charged with misdemeanors and will only get slaps on their wrists, it should remain on their records and it should remind them to not allow themselves to be used for others' purposes. political posturing and money spent are unfortunate but i dont view that as the fault of those who govern, its the fault of those they govern. starting somewhere would be greater personal accountability.

I don't disagree with you here. However the costs of tracking down the people in this year's wretched events outweighs the benefit to society, especially since economically these funds could be used to do things like helping get small and mid-sized businesses running again and providing relief where it is needed. It would need to be strictly stated that this pardon is a one time thing, going forward expect to be tear gassed and prosecuted (the government does need to reassert itself every so often after all).

eh, we're already in full money printing mode, i dont think the millions thrown into this hole would make any difference compared to the trillions being thrown down other holes.
