I was gonna upvote you, but that fuckin pun..... lol

Absolutely the answer isnt any single silver bullet. It's complicated. America cant just ban guns like Australia did after Port Arthur.

But when does the second amendment start protecting guns rights and not peoples rights?

I know, but I couldn't help myself.

But when does the second amendment start protecting guns rights and not peoples rights?

The 2A was designed to make sure that the Federal branch of the government did not take away the right of the people to defend themselves. It doesn't specifically mention guns, but arms.

Precisely. But honestly, we've far surpassed the point that any civilian or even militia could legitimately take on our government if they turned tyrannical.

That time has long passed with the advancement of real military technology.

It isnt musket vs musket, it's .223 vs 20mm if you're lucky or 9mm vs 105 mm if your not.

I can see that point but I always wind up thinking that the Taliban did pretty well in that match up and that the US military isn't too likely to be united in the idea of destroying the country they're fighting for.

I don't think it's a given that the government would wholesale slaughter citizens in an uprising. I think there would be enough military defections to give the citizens as much of a chance and weaponry as the conflicts in Vietnam or Afghanistan.
