That's the wrong window. The correct window is to frame the conversation as "arms." The first amendment does not say "guns." It says "arms." That means swords, knives, baseball bats, etc etc. If we talked about baseball bats or cars (DUIs) the same way we talked about guns, the insanity surrounding the issue would be blindingly obvious.

You're correct and I'd say that conversation is starting to shift. Look at NYC with the lawsuit to allow knives and other arms. There are a number of groups lobbying to allow for the carrying of arms as opposed to just guns. I think that's a huge step.

That's the wrong window.

It seems extremely similar to the window you're advocating to make a point about abortion...

The UK seems to have missed it.

or cars (DUIs)

Do you by chance remember the movie I, Robot? When Bailey (Will Smith) switched his car to manual driving and other character thought he was completely insane for it?
I can't help but feel that argument would eventually roll around to banning cars that are not self-driving.

The abortion stuff I mention is a shove to the correct window. It's been abused to the point that it's completely degenerate now so it shouldn't be allowed at all. That's my opinion anyway.

is a shove to the correct window.

That's just a really slippery slope you're on saying that there is only one correct decision. I definitely disagree with your other post on the topic, but I have a deep disgust for abortion and I think normalizing it is truly eugenics. It's truly barbaric.

I agree, I'm just saying both this post and your abortion post seem to be advocating absolutism as a course correction strategy.

didn't some southern town do that a long time ago in the 80's?

I think an Illinois town did it recently.

I think it might be a good idea. But of course, this assumes that the residents aren't idiots.
