This is one of the reasons I am so adamant about the generation being on all my official documents. I'm a third and my oldest son is the fourth and my dad is junior and still alive. The first time I voted was by absentee ballot and my home county sent me a ballot without the generation on it. I filled it out and sent a note saying I was the third but when my dad tried to vote on election day they turned him away saying he had already voted by absentee. Since then I always requested documents to have the generation on them.
