Images of the attack Telegraaf building: driver sets car on fire
De Telegraaf has spread images of the attack on the head office of the newspaper in Amsterdam. This shows that the driver drives into the façade twice and then sets the delivery van on fire.
Before these images were spread, it was not yet clear whether the fire had been caused by the collision or if the fire had been lit. However, the police said soon to assume that the facade was deliberately rammed and the Telegraaf spoke almost immediately of an attack.
Blade twice
In the video you can see that the delivery van drives on the sidewalk between the planters, then gives gas and the glass front of the building rams. After this the driver drives a few meters backwards and the facade crashes again.
The driver, who wears a hood over his head, then gets out and walks quietly past the car. He throws something in the loading space of the van, after which a flash or explosion occurs.
Flight car
The images show that the man runs away and gets on the passenger side at a car that was along the road and that had arrived at the same time as the van. That car then drives away.
According to the police, the video makes it clear that the rattling of the façade has been done intentionally. In a previous testimony, the police said the flight car was a dark-colored Audi.

Editor-in-chief Paul Jansen and other employees of De Telegraaf tell the NOS that until recently, cars could not reach the entrance of the building, because planters and concrete blocks on the pavement barricaded the passage. Because of work on the building with a platform, several blocks have recently been moved.
The police investigation has now almost completed the trace investigation at the Telegraaf building. And the delivery van has been towed away.
'Do not intimidate'
Telegraaf editor-in-chief Paul Jansen says the staff has been touched by tonight's events. "This is not something that makes you happy, people are impressed, but at the same time we do not let ourselves be intimidated, we roll up our sleeves and are back to work."
