[**The following takes place following the capitulation of France to Nazi Germany in World War II.**] >The next morning three soldiers escorted the journalists through the rubble of the town, past the church where the civilians lay buried. They encountered an old woman digging through a pile of bricks, and they shouted at her to move on. When she didn’t, one of the soldiers approached her while holding his rifle.
