The following account comes from the infamous mercenary Siegfried "Kongo-Müller" Müller, who had been deployed in the Congo in the 1960s:

Those are plantation workers, I thought, they are coming to work here. But as the truck drove around the corner, one of our guards spotted it, and thought they were fleeing rebels. He ran towards them, and as negroes are, they were scared and started to run away. Our guard shot them. Bang, bang, bang. We told the guard that it didn't make sense to shoot in such a situation, but who knows for certain in this country when you should shoot and when you mustn't? Can't really blame the guard, it just didn't go as well as it should have.
