People need to realize this technology is still in its infancy and that it can be seriously flawed. With the dozens of sensors and cameras attached to the vehicles, it only takes one of them to malfunction to cause a crash if you always assume it will be there. For example, the blind spot detectors on my car stopped functioning some time ago, and I have no idea when because I never paid attention to them and always look. I'm in no rush to fix it because I don't want to die due to faulty tech.

I mostly agree. But you should get it looked at next time you get your car to service. If one part of it's security system is broken, how do you know if features like airbags and belt tensioners are broken too?

That, and when the cars drive semi-autonomous they are no longer attentive or start using their phones.
