There was a thread I found about Tesla a while back where it also automatically updates firmware over WiFi or 4G. The issue was that sometimes people buy demo/marketing models of the Tesla, but it never updates in one database that the car was no longer a demo car, so it would push broken and experimental firmware to these cars people bought.
There would be a future market for a zero computer controlled car, but I'm sure that government regulations would make that illegal these days
There is absolutely no good reason to have a car that needs to "update". None. Release your hardware, software, and firmware after proper testing instead of releasing an unfinished product.
