Yea, my TV and receiver both have Wi-Fi/Ethernet and I keep all that turned off and disconnected. There have been reports of Samsung sending voice command clips back to their network, and I even found telemetry on the TV enabled by default.

I route everything into a Pi4 running Kodi. The LibreELEC version supports HDR10 content now and full AC3/DTS/TrueHD passthrough.

And I thought this was about the BLM looters.

Nah that would be racist to ban BLM looters from enjoying their smart TVs

I wonder why this didn't happen? Maybe US BestBuys were not good at tracking serial numbers and reporting them after the riots? It actually seems more likely a US looter would connect a TV to the Internet than a South African one.

Politics. If Samsung went after the majority of looters in the US who just so happen to fit a specific demographic, then it would be a hate crime here. In South Africa, they are a ruling party so turning off their TVs is ok.
