Well, I promise you, this technology is not laying the groundwork for future enforcement drones that will be armed in any way whatsoever. Even during desperate emergency situations in the inevitable severe social unrest that is to come, our societal leaders will not stoop to using future drones for aggressive control of citizens. There is no slippery slope.
Drones fly in all directions. People will own them, much like gun ownership, if the governments actually goes down a crazy, and very lazy, path with armed drones.
There's a big difference in the complexity of the technology that people and governments can operate.
When guns were the cutting edge, it was more even.
You can't operate or produce quantum-computer based autonomous AI drones, but the government may soon be able to. There's now a growing possibility of the big guys winning forever.
As long as my PC's can't beat the crap out of me, I'm not going to be scared of large toy drones with cameras.
