Sure, Google and Apple allow apps in Saudi Arabia that help men make sure their wives aren't trying to leave the country or go places without their permission. That's in their rights as multinational companies to respect laws and customs of other countries. That seems different though than American companies barring other American companies from doing business at least in America. If they were banned for violating other country laws, then they could just region lock their apps/extensions

The problem is you have a small few people controlling much of the wealth and that buys most of the influence, whether it be political or public perception. Most sane people know it's wrong to stop others speech or try to manipulate the hive mind of humanity but tell that to the Queen Ant and her 10000 soldiers and workers. Humans have long since ceased to be a tribal society. Is it any surprise that some want to be in charge and control it by any and all means? The only thing stopping them is that the fear of the guillotine is still too recent.
