I don't like self-checkout either. I don't have any philosophic objection, I just plain don't like them. Besides, I've noticed that about half the time, something doesn't quite work right and a cashier has to go straighten things out. So to hell with self-checkout. Besides, I like exchanging a bit of chitchat with cashiers.

Where do you draw the line? Really grocery stores kill jobs. Do you shop at a bakery, a butcher, and a farm market? Do you want your eggs and milk delivered too? Do you refuse to use phones now that switch board operators no longer connect you?

Still, it's nice to see some people making a token effort. Maybe the only rational line to draw is to go full Ted and oppose modern civilization itself.

The only thing self-checkout is good for is buying steaks at parsley prices.

Self checkout used to suck, but Walmart's are actually getting good now. Their cashiers are slow as FUCK so I actually prefer it at this point when I have to go there.
