Funny their whole diesel scam was allowed to prosper thanks to insane regulation. New automotive manufacturers faced scrutiny vw never had to contend w/. There was no official govt agency checking what came out their tail pipes. It was stumbled upon by a third party org.

They knew what tests to pass, and they passed them. It's just that those cars won't do the same with realistic conditions.

It was a much simpler con. The computer simply changed the operation of the engine after a few minutes "on".
