It's perfectly fine for a wireless carrier to throttle traffic in order to manage their networks so that all users get an acceptable experience with a finite resource. But when you run a stuttering video through a VPN and all of a sudden it hits full speed then it's obvious that that throttling is being used for anti-trust purposes rather than reasonable network management.
As a software engineer, what bothers me about stuff like this is that some engineer was ordered to carry out these unethical, anti-competitive practices and they went along with it. It's totally morally bankrupt and I don't know how guys like that sleep at night. It's a highly in-demand skillset, they could go work somewhere that doesn't require them to sacrifice their morals, but they do it anyway. It's utterly shameful.
